CSPA is an international student press association, founded in 1925, whose goal is to unite student journalists and faculty advisers at schools and colleges through educational conferences, idea exchanges, textbooks, critiques and award programs.

For more than 35 years of volunteer participation as a master teacher at conventions and conferences at this Association; for his persistence in finding an innovative ways to show both faculty advisers and student editors how to challenge the complaisant, energize the apathetic, and argue for the powerless and uninformed through a student press that mattered to its readers; and for taking on the role of ambassador between the student and professional press always working to the betterment of both by constantly showing them the strengths to be found in each other: Columbia Scholastic Press Association is proud to honor Robert Greenman with its Joseph M. Murphy Award for Outstanding Service.
